Elon Musk defended his controversial role leading the Department of Government Efficiency as he prepares to step back, according to the Associated Press. Speaking at the White House, Musk said DOGE had cut $160 billion in federal spending, far from its $1 trillion goal, but claimed progress had been made. He called DOGE “a way of life,” offering vague answers on its future leadership, scope, and end date while hinting he’d keep his West Wing office.
